Marty Campbell vs Roxanne Murphy for City Council District 4

I think this is going to be a great race. Both of these people love the city, both have a high degree of experience...I'm excited to see these two go head to head!

I thought she was running for Port? I swear I heard her sating this at Marylin Strickland's kickoff event.

What I mean is that she had been telling people recently at Marylin's kickoff that she was running for Port, now this happens? Hmmm? Makes you wonder.

Roxanne has been unusually visible with an Eastside community group for the past month, so this is not a total surprise. Marty, however, still has my vote.

It's great that Marty "cares about Tacoma" and owns 2 businesses in both the Downtown and Stadium dists, but what has he done for the Eastside, which is who he'll represent?

I've been doing grassroots advocacy in Tacoma for about 5 or 6 years now. Even though our mission is sometimes controversial for some Tacoma residents, (skateparks), Marty has been extremely supportive...even going so far as to introduce us to new opportunities and people who may be interested in our activities.

Thanks to Marty's support—and the progressive thinking of the New Tacoma Neighborhood Council—we got skateboarding going again down in Thea's Park. This policy shift was the first time in the NATION that skaters had been allowed to remove skate-stoppers. That action netted Tacoma an international award for policies in youth inclusion.

From what I know of Roxanne, she's great and Tacoma needs more people like her. However, Marty has demonstrated that he knows a solid vision when he sees it and has a long history of supporting people who are willing to step up and make a positive change.

I think Marty would be an effective representative for ANY neighborhood in Tacoma.

That's the way I see it.
