Tollefson Plaza: Solved..sorta

Sometimes I look at the solutions David Boe from exit133 puts together and really wonder if we really need to get that complicated. Would a solution that's already working in our other parks work with Tollefson Plaza? For under 1k could this solution work? tolfsonplaza

Good lord Michael, you're a genius! A waaay better idea than a bunch of stupid tables.

.... and how about removing those stupid spikes on the ledges so skaters have a place to skate downtown. Who cares if they wax the ledges? It's not like there's anyone down there looking at them anyway.

Mofo from the Hood actually came up with this idea long time ago. I would add some chain link fence to keep ball out of the street.

actually I came up with the idea before Mofo was conceived

Excellent - although the posted rules at the park state that you must evacuate the premises after dusk. There might even be Obama Bucks for the hoop installation.

The Tolefson - what nonsense. The Chamber of Commerce is supposed to be in charge of programming, bringing events and rent out the plaza. I have tried over and over to get information about plaza rentals. They are clueless and do not respond to calls or e-mails. No info on the web either. Nobody is there at the Chamber, just like Tolefson.

Rent out the plaza? Why the #)$( should anyone have to rent the plaza for an event? Shouldn't the Chamber be paying people to use the space for an event? $35k for tables and chairs could sponser quite a few events. Why not hire a different artist each month to occupy the plaza - with a grand opening every Third Thursday?

It's apparently pricey too, 500 bucks and up. I wonder if the Chamber has a contract for this and if they actually get paid for the 'programing'. Somehow this seems to have snuck below the radar. Hiring artists would be excactly the way to go! I know of one artist who wanted to use the plaza for an event this summer. She found a free venue instead...

"actually I came up with the idea before Mofo was conceived"

yo mama. i challenge you to a game of horse!

mofo also had the idea to turn it into a used car sales lot.

I'm as tired of the Tollefson dilemma as I am of the Russell Fiasco and the chicken and the egg situation in downtown general.

If we want something done, we need to just do it ourselves. Let's just start doing stuff at Tollefson regardless of what the City and Chamber of Commerce have to say. Who cares about paying for it... the place is deserted 99.5% of the time. Too much talk, not enough action.

oh come on. don't be a wet blanket. It's always fun to put tollefson down.
